No to Casual Friday on 1/23/2026

We will not be having Casual Friday this week. This decision wasn't easy, but it's necessary. Over the past couple of weeks, we've seen behaviors that don't reflect our GRAPE values, trash left on campus, food thrown in common areas, and unkind treatment of classmates. While this week has shown improvement (thank you to students who picked up trash!), we still have work to do.
The good news? This is temporary and completely in your control. When we show that we can take care of our school and each other, Casual Friday will return.
Please be in full dress code on Friday to avoid detention.
I believe in every one of you. Let's show what HTLA is truly made of together.

No to Casual Friday on 1/16/2026

Unfortunately, we will not be having Casual Friday on January 16th, 2026.
We've had trash left on campus during lunch and nutrition, food thrown in our common areas. Let's show what HTLA is truly made of. I believe in every one of you, and I know we can do better, together.

No to Casual Friday on 12/12/2025

Unfortunately, we will not be having Casual Friday on December 12th, 2025. This decision wasn't made lightly, and I want to explain why.
Over the past few weeks, we've seen behaviors that don't reflect who we are as a community. We've had trash left on campus during lunch and nutrition, food thrown in our common areas, and vandalism in our boys' bathroom. These actions show a lack of respect for our school, our staff, and most importantly, for each other.
At HTLA Middle, we take pride in our GRAPE values, values that guide us to be responsible, respectful, and caring members of our community. When we fail to treat our environment and each other with dignity, we're not living up to the standards we've set for ourselves.
I know this is disappointing, especially with the Fall Festival this Friday. I also know that the students who are consistently making good choices may feel this is unfair. However, as a community, we hold each other accountable. When some of us fall short, it affects all of us.
Here's the good news: This is temporary and completely within your control. When we demonstrate that we can take care of our school and treat one another with respect, Casual Friday will return.
Please make sure you are in full dress code on Thursday to avoid receiving a detention.
Let's show what HTLA is truly made of. I believe in each and every one of you, and I know we can do better, together.
